I am a visual artist working in collage, assemblage sculpture and altered books. My practice explores identity, memory and the history of the African diaspora. Vintage and contemporary images collide to convey how the past informs the present.

... A little yarn about the BAM Artsfair.

It's official. Yarnbombing is now mainstream enough for The Establishment to commission it for an art fair.

Perfect activity for The Boy, who helped add to one of the panels.
The panels and hangings will be displayed later in Suzanne Tidwell's installation at the Bellevue Arts Museum, a venue dedicated to artisan craft.

We spent most of the day there -- a mistake on my part, since TwoBoo really needed a nap. And a bathroom break. (He's now back to diapers instead of underwear.) Maybe next year I'll actually get to look at things closely enough to buy something from one of the 300 vendors.
