I am a visual artist working in collage, assemblage sculpture and altered books. My practice explores identity, memory and the history of the African diaspora. Vintage and contemporary images collide to convey how the past informs the present.

What was I thinking, entering another show while getting ready for my own solo show? Time to pull out the big (staple) guns.
But then I was invited to join a group art exhibit at Seattle City Hall... and I caved.
The Onyx Fine Arts Collective show will be in two galleries at City Hall, from March 6th to May 1st. (Yes, that last date is the day of my solo show reception. Eeek.) I'm entering two pieces; this one is based on a journal page and a piece I started in Erin Faith Allen's class at the final Artfest. I'm painting (and stapling) after the kids go to bed. I'll let you know next week if I make the entry deadline. Eeek.
